FOR the third year running there was great concern about the poor summer's weather having a drastic effect on garden produce for the Bradford Peverell Gardening and Cookery Show.
However, the day proved to be a resounding success with glorious sunshine and a record 260 entries.
There were thirteen in the Giant Sunflower Competition, the children's section being won by Rebecca and Lauren Sutch and the adults' by Michael Eaton with a seed head 31.25 cm. across!
The floral sections gave the hall a wonderfully colourful welcome and the vegetable, fruit, children's and cookery entries were of a very high standard. The 'Credit Crunch' floral arrangement was won by the committee chairman Linda Deering with a beautiful recycled 'arbour'.
As usual Roy Slade was kept busy with his stall and Vic Davis persuaded a lot of villagers to part with their cash in the auction of produce. The whole day raised £300 for the Village Hall, thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of so many in our community.
