MUM Michelle and baby Max Price are in the frame for a national exhibition in London.

The duo will feature in a display of portraits of living kidney donors and their recipients at the Menier Gallery, near London Bridge, on December 14 to 19.

Photographer Holly Cocker, 24, who has undergone a kidney transplant, is taking pictures of 20 couples for the Gift of Life exhibition.

Michelle, 31, is due to give a kidney to her 18-month-old son Max as he is suffering from chronic renal failure.

She said: “Holly was so positive and a real inspiration.

“It was great to be able to talk to someone who had been through it.

“We were pleased to be able to take part in the exhibition.

“Anything which raises awareness and opens eyes to what people are going through is good.”

Michelle added: “When people die their organs are often wasted.

“It is a taboo subject, especially when it comes to children, but it is something everyone should consider.”

Michelle, lives with husband Shaun and their other children Chloe, 11, Jack, eight, and Kacey, five, in Southview Road, Weymouth.

Michelle and Max are due to undergo the transplant procedure in London, probably in early 2010.

Michelle has an appointment with her consultant in mid-September before Max will see his consultant in November or December.

Holly, who is from Putney, in London, was diagnosed with renal failure in 2003 and waited five years on the transplant list before a friend donated a kidney in 2008.

She studied photography at University of the Arts in London and has been commissioned to work for such companies as Innocent Drinks, Art In Site and Divertimenti Cookery School.

Her portraits will hang alongside pictures of other donors and recipients taken by fellow photographer Sarah Milne.

The Gift of life exhibition is being run by the Live Life, Then Give Life (LLTGL) charity which aims to improve the lives of organ and tissue transplant patients.

Holly said: “My aim of the project is to capture the strong bond between a kidney recipient and live donor.

“This is such a special and extraordinary relationship.

“I want the photos to represent this relationship and the donor’s heroic act and to explore the bond between donors and recipients whether it be friends, family members, altruistic, work colleagues or spouses.”
