A HISTORIC building in old Weymouth is keeping time again after council engineers intervened.
Members of the Chapelhay Community Partnership were baffled when the clock on the Old Town Hall, which they are set to take over, started working again.
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council confirmed engineers had repaired the clock.
Assistant engineer Ray Gray said: “Previously there has been a problem with the clock’s power being turned off mistakenly by hall users.
“However, we have now rectified this problem and hope the clock will remain in good working order for the Chapelhay Community Partnership.”
Mr Gray said work had also been carried out on the hall’s roof and guttering.
The community partnership is planning a launch party once the lease to the hall can be signed. It wants to turn the hall into a heritage centre and community arts space.
