- The tea dances at the Willowbed Hall are still going from strength to strength. The next one is on Friday, June 5th at 2pm. There will be the usual refreshments and a raffle. The entrance fee is £2 with all profits going to Age Concern. Non dancers are welcome to attend.
Ducklings Pre School is holding an open day on Wednesday, June 10th. You are invited to go along and meet the staff and find out more about Ducklings between 1.30pm - 2.30pm and 6.30pm - 7.30pm
- The Elms on East Street, Chickerell will be opening their garden to the public on Saturday, June 13th from 2 – 5.30pm. There will be cream teas on sale, a stall selling delicious homemade cakes and a plant stall. The proceeds will be divided between The Parkinson’s Disease Society and St Mary’s Church. This is well worth a visit as behind the high wall and the blue door at the centre of the old village is a surprise of lawns, wonderful flowerbeds, some 160 roses and mature trees. There is also a substantial vegetable garden, in all there is about an acre and a half to explore. Entrance is £1.50 with primary school children free. Please go along and support this event, enjoy it and have a cream tea.
Chickerell has a new Mayor Councillor John Worth has taken over from Councillor Norman Carter and Councillor Worth’s Mayoress is his wife, Pam. Good luck to them for the forthcoming year.
- The Charlestown Victory Hall, Putton Lane, would like to encourage young mothers and housewives to make use of their facilities at the hall perhaps for a coffee morning or a Mother and Toddler Group or just somewhere where they can meet up with friends and meet new ones. Anyone would be welcome to go along to their normal Coffee Morning which is held every Wednesday from 10 am - 12 noon to see what the hall is like - it is available in the morning on a Monday, Tuesday or Friday.
