I HAD occasion to use the public toilets behind the bus stop in Wyke Regis a week ago.
I found the lock on the cubicle to be broken.
I assumed, vandals had been at work the previous night as the woodwork on the doorjamb had been sheered right off.
But it was soon obvious that this wasn’t recent damage and looked like it was weeks old.
Today roughly a week later I looked again. Yes, it is still in the same broken condition.
What’s worse, the other toilet is in the same condition.
May I make a suggestion; Wyke boasts three councillors, Weymouth West that covers the other half of Wyke probably boasts another three.
The idea is as follows – out of their generous expenses allowances they donate a few quid each.
For this they could employ a local handyman to fix a strip of metal on each doorjamb to give a secure locking once again and give locals once more peace of mind.
They could make the fixing into an event, inviting the press and TV to the ceremony.
This would serve a double purpose, it would show all the greedy pigs at Westminster that there are still some decent people in public service - at the same time it might shame our full council to do the job they are paid for.
A message to Weymouth Council – stop treating Wyke and its people like a third rate banana republic.
We pay the same rates as Weymouth and deserve parity of service.
