Further to the letter from James Young in Monday’s Echo, I would like to ask all MPs if they do really appreciate the extreme anger and frustration felt by the general populace of this country that the current revelations are bringing to a head .
The arrogance of Margaret Becket on last Thursday’s BBC Question Time beggars belief!
The ordinary people of this country are sick and tired of the one rule for us and another for MPs and their hypocrisy.
The only thing that will satisfy the general public now is a complete root and branch replacement of the whole of the remuneration package for MPs.
It should starting by making their whole package subject to the same Inland Revenue rules that the rest of us have to obey and subject to the same draconian penalties that we are threatened with if we make a minor transgression.
We can't plead poor memory or lack of accounting skills.
This should then encompass their ‘redundancy’ terms and pensions. They should have to purchase a private pension in the open market, as do most people in this country.
