I would like to take this opportunity to thank your many readers who have supported Cancer Research UK’s Somerset Stride Committee by taking part in the Montacute Stride which is held at Montacute House every year on the last Sunday in October for raise funds for Breast Cancer Research.

Many people from Dorset participated in the event.

Thanks to the many people who took part in the walk a magnificent sum of £18,000 was raised last year in support of our Breast Cancer Programme.

Cancer Research UK would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped raise this wonderful sum - without your tremendous help and support we could not have continued to run such a successful event. Thank you.

Breast cancer is the most common women’s cancer in the UK, with one in nine women developing the disease at some point in their lives, and Cancer Research UK’s work to beat the disease remains crucial.

Cancer Research UK is the largest single funder of breast cancer research in the UK, spending around £44 million on groundbreaking work into the disease last year. Teams of researchers across the UK are dedicated to improving our understanding of the causes of breast cancer and investigating new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease.
