SONGWRITERS Ed Hintze and Stuart Fretwell have composed a charity tune for Weymouth’s newest choir to sing.

The duo have written a track called Starlight Foundation in aid of a charity which makes the dreams of terminally and seriously ill children come true.

Members of Ed’s choir Dorset For Singing are set to perform the song at a concert to raise money for the charity.

Music teacher Ed, who shot to fame as an Elton John impersonator on the BBC’s The One and Only, said it was a fantastic charity to support.

He added that they were inspired to support it by round Britain walker Seb Green who also raised money for the charity.

The Dorset For Singing choir has about 120 members although about 80 to 90 attend rehearsals at All Saints School any one time.

Ed launched the choir for anybody who wanted to sing and they are now practising for their end of year show on July 11.

The choir performs pop songs, as well as more spiritual tracks and such staples as Jerusalem.

Stuart and Ed first collaborated on a Christmas song and have recently worked together on another track called ‘Duncan’.

Stuart sends lyrics to Ed, who then writes the music and records the pieces.

Ed, 35, who lives with wife Jenny and their children in Weymouth, said: “Stuart emails me the lyrics and I have a look.

“It’s quite good fun.”

Former English teacher Stuart, 56, who lives with his wife on Portland, was inspired to write Duncan by a fellow musician who also posts tracks on You Tube but had to give up music for a while because of his studies.

He said: “I wrote the lyric and filmed the video.

“Ed arranged, performed and recorded the song.

“It’s really catchy and I’ve done a proper pop video for it on YouTube.”
