THE father of a young man left for dead by burglars fears that next time they could kill.

Scott Loveless was left lying in a pool of blood after the attack in his own home.

He is now recovering at his parents’ home in Dorchester following the horrific ordeal.

The last thing Scott recalls – before waking up slumped in a pool of his own blood – is opening his bedroom door to investigate a suspicious sound.

He was then knocked unconscious by his attackers before they ransacked his Old Orchard Road flat on Poole harbourside.

The painter and decorator, aged 23, is slowly recuperating at his parents’ home.

He said: “My face is so swollen. I think I was out cold for about four hours – I don’t remember anything but my face is so swollen I think I must have been kicked in the head. There was blood all over the carpet when I came around. All I can remember is opening up my door then waking up covered in my own blood.”

Doctors who treated Scott’s wounds at Poole Hospital were so concerned by his condition they ordered a head scan to check for brain injuries.

Dad Simon said: “The callous idiot who did this to my son left without knowing if he was dead or alive. The thief beat him unconscious – we feel that if someone knows something about this they must contact police.

“Whoever did this could end up killing someone next time – they need to be caught.”

Scott walked to hospital after Saturday’s vicious 4am attack as his mobile phone was stolen.

Two computer games consoles, a PlayStation and a Nintendo Wii, were also taken.

Scott will take a few weeks off work to recover before moving out of the Poole flat.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: “If anyone has information about this incident I would urge them to contact us.”
