- A COMMITTED Town Green supporter has recently ventured into new territory. Mary has been busily raising trays of sturdy young bedding plants to sell in aid of the Society for the Protection of Markham and Little Francis. These are mostly geraniums, asters, pansies and busy lizzies, along with a small selection of other donated plants. Telephone Mary on 01305 775553 for further information or to arrange to call in to browse and buy.
- IT'S ONE of the busiest times of the year for gardeners. People came from far and wide to Wyke Regis Horticultural Society's recent plant sale. An interesting miscellany of quality plants was provided by members. An acer which was on sale has apparently been taken all the way back to Coventry by one visitor. The event was a resounding success with £406 worth of plants sold in the space of 2 hours at their headquarters recently. Members are now looking forward to the Dig for Victory event at the Nothe Fort next month when they will share a stall with the W.I. Vic Griffiths who writes for the Wyke Register will be there. WRHS will be selling their new Jute bags priced in old money - £2-10s-0d. The WRHS flower and produce show is also looming on the horizon and will be a much more informal event this year with 3 simple categories for members to enter. The show will take place on Sunday, June 28, and will also include a knitted teddy competition in aid of Weldmar.
