BRIDE-TO-BE Lin Evans is counting on a nice day for her black wedding.

Goth fan Lin from Weymouth hopes she isn’t cursed after numerous problems with the arrangements left her fearing the worst.

Now she hopes someone will help make her special day go smoothly.

Lin has tried without success to secure a suitable black dress she can wear when she marries Graham Stead at Portland Castle this Friday.

She said: “The first one I bought from a friend last year was sent away to be altered.

“It was a good job but the trouble was it took six months and by the time it came back I had put on a bit of weight and it wouldn’t fit.

“I then had another dress made which I arranged over the internet. It turned up the other day and the sleeves are so tight they leave bruises on my arms.

“There’s no time to get it sorted and with one week to go until the wedding I’m afraid it’s going to be a disaster.”

Orthodontic nurse Lin, 50, of High Street, Wyke Regis, added: “On top of all this my cousin who is giving me away is in hospital with a bad back after an accident at work and my head bridesmaid has been struck down with a virus and has no voice.

“I’m sure it’s all going to be fine on the day but at the moment there seems to be one hiccup after another.”

Lin will also have to face married life away from her husband during the week.

Keen biker Graham, 45, lives in London and works as a van driver. When the couple met 18 months ago they assumed he would have found a job in Weymouth by now.

Lin, who has been married before, said: “Graham loves it down here and visits every weekend. The trouble is there’s no jobs around at the moment so he’s stuck up there for the time being.

“There is some good news though because he’s been able to track down his birth mother. She’s coming over from Australia for the wedding so that will be lovely.”

The couple have chosen Portland Castle as it is a setting they adore and feel it will lend itself perfectly to the ceremony.

Lin is having her hair coloured, will wear Goth jewellery, carry black flowers and ride into the castle on a horse as Tudor-style music is played.

Later, guests will tuck into venison and drink mead at the reception at Wyke Regis Social Club.

Lin said: “I’m in need of a black dress or a good seamstress. Failing that I might have to put my jeans on.”
