DOGS and their owners will be winning rosettes while helping to improve the lives of some of the poorest children in Peru.
An Exemption Dog Show is being run by the Wawa charity on Sunday, May 17, at the Weir Sports Field, Nettlecombe near Bridport The Wawa charity provides educational and medical opportunities for underprivileged children in Peru.
The show will offer both breed and novelty classes with rosettes to fifth place.
Entries are on the field from 11am and judging starts at 12.30pm.
There will also be displays by The Honeysuckle Agility Display Team, and a barbecue and teas will be available throughout the day.
The money raised at last year’s show is going towards building and equipping a simple kitchen for the 70 pupils of Puscarpampa primary school close to Cusco.
At the moment parents, each morning, collect a few sticks to make a fire on a bit of scrubland to provide the pupils with a mug of warm reconstituted milk.
The staff and parents want to improve the diet of the children and Wawa will initially provide supplementary foodstuffs such as eggs and fruit.
Money raised this year will go towards improving a room for use as a dining area so that in inclement weather the pupils can enjoy a more varied meal under cover.
All are welcome to attend the dog show. For more information call Geraldine on 01308 485271.
