Featuring demonstrator David Martin from Swindon, this is to mark the fortieth anniversary of Melcombe Regis Flower Arranging Society, which is affiliated to National Association of Flower Arranging Societies, which in turn is allied with the World Association. Annette Parker is Dorset and Guernsey Area Vice Chair and says that all arts and crafts are having a difficult time at present and this association is struggling to retain members.

They want to encourage new people to join in, as they do not wish to see the craft of flower arranging disappear and the clubs provide a wonderful forum for learning something new and making life long friends who have similar interests.

  • A lovely afternoon set the scene for the first garden fete at Radipole’s Crecy Care Home.

Borough Mayor, Coun Tim Monroe opened the event, which in addition to the traditional attractions, featured children’s entertainer Captain Stupid and magic tricks.

Crecy cares for people with mental health problems.

Meryl Hodder, who co-owns the home with Derek Luckhurst and Gary Pike is proud of the new purpose built extension and the ways in which Crecy caters for a wide age range of clients with the cottage accommodating those who are less dependent.

Home Manager, Teresa Torres said: “This event shows Crecy as a part of the community, with residents and neighbours participating in this happy occasion.”
