A CLIMBER is lucky to be alive after plunging 150 feet from a cliff face.

The 28-year-old man, who fell onto the beach at Man O War Bay near Durdle Door, escaped with serious but not life threatening injuries.

His 22-year-old climbing partner was also trapped in a crevice about 20ft down from the cliff top in the dramatic incident.

The Portland Coastguard helicopter was scrambled and Coastguard Rescue Officers from Lulworth and Wyke Regis were also called to the scene.

The injured man was flown toDorset County Hospital in Dorchester. He was reported to have chest, pelvic and some internal injuries but is is a stable condition.
