SISTERS Kerry and Laura Hamilton have always done things together.
So when it came to the biggest day of their lives they weren’t going to change.
They are preparing to say ‘I do’ with brothers Sonny and Wayne Mabey in a joint wedding today.
The girls, from Weymouth, will walk down the aisle together on the arm of proud dad Steve Hamilton at St Christopher’s Church in Winfrith this afternoon Kerry Hamilton, 27, will tie the knot with Sonny Mabey, 30, while alongside them at the alter will be Laura, 24 and Wayne, 27.
The younger couple were introduced by their older siblings, though Laura and Wayne were first to get engaged.
With the two couples all living together under one roof in East Knighton, the last few months have involved some frantic preparations.
“It has been quite amusing,” said Laura.
“The church and reception venue were booked months ago, but it’s just been mad in the last few weeks.”
Kerry, who was Weymouth Carnival queen in 1999, met Sonny on a night out in Weston-super-Mare 10 years ago and subsequently introduced the younger couple to each other. Kerry, who works at the Sunny Days Nursery in Poundbury, said that the four of them had always got on famously since then and a joint wedding seemed like a natural choice.
She said: “No one has fallen out or disagreed with anything to do with the wedding. We’ve not had one quibble.
“It’s a relief to finally get around to the day after all the planning.”
The two boys work for the family company, Mabey and Sons, who specialise in Tarmac and asphalt.
Steve Hamilton, the girls’ proud dad, admitted giving away both his daughters at the same time would be a strange moment.
“It’s probably a bit easier for the dad this way,” said Mr Hamilton, who lives in Radipole, Weymouth.
“It’ll all be over in one go, but it’s a bit of a stressful time.”
The reception will take place at the Springfield Country Hotel, Wareham, and in keeping with the big day, the two happy couples will also head off on their honeymoons together, to Scotland. The ceremony takes place at St Christopher’s Church in Winfrith at 2pm.
