THE A35 was closed between Dorchester and Bridport after a serious accident at Winterbourne Abbas this morning, police said.

The accident involved a single vehicle leaving the road outside the Little Chef at Winterbourne Abbas at around 8.30am.

Ambulance crews and police attended the scene and road closures were put in place between Monkey’s Jump roundabout and Kingston Russell.

Closures were later put in place by the Texaco garage at Bridport.

The man from the vehicle has been taken to Dorset County Hospital with what police describe as ‘serious injuries’.
