FORMER Dorset schoolboy Iain Askham is among the first Britons to be diagnosed with swine flu.
Iain, 27, who is now living in Falkirk, Scotland, attended Bovington Middle School and The Purbeck School in Wareham.
He was also a member of the Dorchester Castle football team between 1992 and 1995.
Iain has worked for Scottish Power since leaving Graeme High School, which he attended after Purbeck.
The family lived in Bovington during the 1990s, while Iain’s father Ian Askham was based at Bovington Army Camp.
Iain and his new wife Dawn, 24, became the first Britons to contract swine flu while in Cancun, Mexico on their honeymoon.
Assuming their symptoms were nothing more than a dose of jetlag and a common cold, they waited two days before seeing a doctor.
Despite recovering rapidly from their mild illness, the Askhams are expected to remain at Monklands hospital’s specialist isolation unit until at least today – six days after they were admitted.
