A MAN found hanged on the wall of a Weymouth harbourside restaurant has been named as Lee Andrew Furness.
Mr Furness, 33, was discovered by passers-by outside Vaughan’s Bistro on Custom House Quay.
A local fisherman cut him down and Portland Coastguard staff based at the operations room nearby attempted resuscitation but he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after by paramedics on Wednesday morning.
Police said an inquest had been opened and adjourned into the death of Mr Furness, a former forklift driver who was single and from Bournemouth.
Floral tributes from relatives have been left outside Vaughan’s.
One from the parents of Mr Furness reads: ‘To our son Lee. Be at peace. We love you and nothing will fill the void. Miss you, mum and dad.’ Vaughan’s owner Mark Vaughan said he had been approached by family members who wanted to leave tributes.
Police are satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Furness.
Portland Coastguard operations manager Mark Rodaway said control room staff trained in first aid tried to help at the scene before the arrival of paramedics.
An inquest into the death of Mr Furness will be held at a later date.
