Dorset residents have until the end of this month to suggest ideas to promote the sustainability of their local area.
As part of the process under the Sustainable Communities Act 2007, local authorities in Dorset are inviting individuals and groups to put forward proposals during the eight week period up to April 30. The Act sets up a new process where local communities and their local authorities (district and county councils) can guide national policy and action to promote local sustainability.
They can also reverse community decline by proposing changes in legislation or budgets that currently only central government can influence.
Proposals must require a change by Central Government before they can be implemented (eg a transfer of responsibilities from one public body to another or a change in legislation).
Proposal forms, are available on at dorsetforyou.com
