TWO brothers have appeared at Winchester Crown Court charged with manslaughter outside a pub near Weymouth.
Robin Shaun Randall and Ross Charles Randall are charged with the manslaughter of Michael Wooldridge outside the Lugger Inn in Chickerell, on April 5.
Neither of the brothers has entered a plea in the case yet and they only spoke at the hearing to confirm their identities.
Robin Randall, aged 30, of Woodland Way, Chickerell, and Ross Randall, aged 31, of West Street, Chickerell, previously appeared before magistrates in Weymouth before the case was transferred to Winchester.
Mr Wooldridge, 34, of Chickerell, died of head injuries at the Dorset County Hospital.
At the Winchester hearing, prosecutor Kate Brown said it would take at least three weeks for a preliminary post-mortem report to be completed on Mr Wooldridge.
She also said that a full post-mortem report would not be available for three months, adding that it was ‘unfortunate and of some concern that it will take that long’.
The court heard that the delays would mean prosecutors could not serve papers in the case until the beginning of July.
Judge Guy Boney agreed that the dates concerned in the case were ‘not wonderful’ but were necessary.
Nicholas Tucker, representing Randall and Randall, applied for his clients’ bail conditions to be relaxed given the length of time until they were next due before the court.
Judge Boney agreed to relax some bail conditions previously imposed on the brothers, including reducing the number of times they must report to Weymouth police station from three times a week to two.
The brothers’ curfews were also set to cover the hours of 11pm to 7am. All the other previously imposed conditions on the brothers, such as no contact with witnesses and residence at their current addresses, have remained in place.
The brothers will next appear before the court for a plea and case management hearing on August 28.
