“DON’T let another young life go to waste.”
That is the plea of a family left devastated by the death of a young driver found to be well over the drink-drive limit.
An inquest heard that Hannah Hinchliffe, 22, was three-and-a-half times the legal limit when she careered off the A35 Upton bypass just before Christmas.
The chef had been drinking cider in Wareham with friends when her Vauxhall Astra ploughed through a fence and into a tree in the early hours of December 13.
Her auntie, Christine Smith, said after the hearing that Hannah’s death provided a stark reminder of the hazards of drink-driving.
She said: “If Hannah’s story stops someone else getting in a car when they are drunk, then at least it is another life saved.
“It is so sad Hannah has just become another drink-drive statistic and it’s a complete waste of a life.
“It has ruined our family’s lives.”
District coroner Sheriff Payne recorded the verdict that Hannah’s death was the result of a car accident.
