Once again ‘Team Summers’ is up and running ready to take on the challenge of the London Marathon for the second consecutive year.
Last year the team raised a whopping £9,500 for the Weldmar HospiceCare Trust.
Runners John and son Jonathon both completed the gruelling course last year and are looking forward to returning to the capital on April 26.
They will be joined this year by Jonathon’s wife Karen who will competing in her first marathon.
Jonathon said: “Training has gone very well for all three of us this year and we are all looking forward to experiencing the wonderful atmosphere on the day.
“The fundraising is ongoing thanks to my auntie, Rita Wilson, who has worked tirelesly again this year organising a number of events.
“We also owe a big thank-you to John Parker of the Lugger Inn at Chickerell for all of his support and to all those who have contributed by helping at our events, donating raffle prizes and sponsoring us.
Team Summers are running in memory of Teresa Summers and Shirley Gomm who both died of cancer two years ago.
The team and the Weldmar HospiceCare Trust would greatly appreciate further donations.
