- SOME time ago Mrs Susie Colenutt gave Wyke Regis Sisterhood three bin bags full of assorted wool and set members the task of knitting six inch squares to sew together to make blankets.
Members of Wyke Methodist church and the Thursday morning coffee mornings joined in with the challenge and also donated more wool.
Four ladies managed to produce a whole blanket each.
87 year old Sisterhood member Mrs. Eileen Smithson sewed together more squares than could be counted in her own marathon contribution to the effort.
The 21 blankets eventually produced by the ladies in total will now be sent to an orphanage in Romania.
Wyke Sisterhood meets on Tuesday afternoons in Wyke Methodist church hall and welcomes new members of all ages. For further information telephone 01305 770595.
