EVERSHOT PARISH COUNCIL
- AT A MEETING of the Evershot Parish Council held on Monday, March 2, the following matters were discussed:
- WEST Dorset Spring Clean.
This was organised for April 5th at 2.30pm.
People were to be asked to meet opposite the Acorn Inn.
Gloves and rubbish sacks were to be provided.
- TOTEM Pole. Karen Hansen outlined her idea of a totem pole for the village, to involve village people in the preparation of such.
Council were delighted with the prospect and thanked Karen for her preparation, time and her offer to take this venture forward.
- STREET light. The light outside the surgery had not been functioning and, upon inspection by SEC, a fault in the electricity supply was found.
- SANDBAGS. This subject was deferred to the next meeting.
It was felt that the piped grips on West Hill appear to be having some effect now, as the last onslaught of water had not created so much standing water in the village.
- CORRESPONDENCE. The Clerk informed the council of the purpose of the organisation BAVLAP (Beaminster and Villages Local Area Partnership) and it was decided that Evershot should remain on their mailing list.
The clerk was asked to display on the EPC board the WDDC letter dated 26.01.09 outlining promotion of loans for energy efficiency improvements.
In response to a letter from the WDDC letter dated 16.02.09 about stakeholder training, Councillor Jill Williams is to attend this on March 11th.
- PARISH Plan. Councillors, having read the draft, made few amendments.
The evening of April 23 was set for the presentation of the Parish Plan and documents to the village.
Karen Hansen will also be present to explain the totem pole project and David Farwig, part of UK Digital Switchover team will speak about the forthcoming changes.
- MODEL Publication Scheme. Councillor Bowditch had written to Mr. Wilton, who is happy to continue as internal auditor.
The effectiveness of the internal audit document was reviewed and felt to be quite satisfactory.
The risk assessment document has been reviewed and necessary inspections have been made.
- THE NEXT meeting will take place on Monday, May 11.
The Annual Village Meeting will be at 7pm, followed by the AGM of Evershot Parish Council at 7.15pm and succeeded by a meeting of Evershot Parish Council.
FROME VALLEY PARISH COUNCIL
- A MEETING of the Parish Council was held in the Savill Hall, Cattistock on Monday, March 30. The following items were discussed:
- COMMUNITY Space Committee. Mr Atkins reported on a recent Committee Meeting and stated that they had approximately £19000 towards the installation of new play equipment.
This was good news.
An inspection of the existing equipment is to be arranged.
- SOUTH Drive Development, Cattistock. It has been confirmed that WDDC have received from the Developer the monies as set out in the Section 106 Agreement relating to the South Drive Development.
Local Clubs and Activities are invited to submit an application to see if they are successful in being a beneficiary of part of this money.
- LITTER Bins. An additional litter bin is to be sited near the seat at West End, Cattistock. It was agreed to contact the local Dog Warden, as a complaint has been received that dog mess is not being cleaned up in the vicinity of the Savill Hall.
- VILLAGE Spring Clean. Thanks were expressed to Allen Long for arranging the recent Spring Clean of the Village.
He stated that 16 Residents took part. Well done to everyone.
- SOUTH Drive. A request for a ‘Slow’ sign at the top of South Drive to draw motorists’ attention to oncoming vehicles from Meadow View has been turned down by the DCC.
The reason given is that this is a private road.
- THE NEXT meeting of the Parish Council will be on Tuesday, May 26.
