It is very laudable that there is a cycleway being constructed along part of the ring road, but this seems to be at the expense of repairing the other roads.

Most of the main roads round Weymouth are becoming injury traps for cyclists, and motor bikers.

Deep holes and gulleys are now common, and many of the drain covers, particularly along the road edges, are so sunk that they are also hazards.

To cycle into one could bend the bike and rider; to go round one may mean being hit by a car.

Many vehicle drivers pass too close to, or carve up, cyclists, so that with the added problem of having to avoid the holes and drains, all bikers are seriously at risk.

Some roads, notably Lanehouse and Wyke, are now so broken up that stones get thrown up by vehicles, which can hit cyclists, pedestrians or windscreens.

It is now much smoother and far less hard work to cycle on the pavement up Wyke Road.

Does the council need to wait for an accident before repairing the roads?
