A mobile skate park is now available to help entertain young people across West Dorset.

The district council bought the skate park, which can be taken to locations across the area, after winning funding from the Big Lottery.

The skate park is available to groups and organisations for free. It comes with a range of equipment including helmets, safety pads and some skateboards.

Robert Gould, leader of West Dorset District Council, welcomed the new facility. He said: “The skate park will provide hours of fun for young people across West Dorset and I am delighted that we have been able to buy it.

“It is very important that we invest in mobile equipment that can be taken to isolated villages.

“This skate park will give young people living in rural areas the chance to try out a fun facility on their doorsteps.

“West Dorset is a very rural area and I am glad we have been able to buy something that will help our young people access fun activities.”

During the year the council, along with skate park manufacturers TRIBE, will offer free safety training for hirers.

All equipment conforms to safety standards and is stored and transported in its own box trailer, which can be set up and ready to skate within 30 minutes.

The mobile skate park is ideal to use for a one-off event or as a test facility for a more permanent skate park.
