RESIDENTS can enjoy cut-price entry to dozens of attractions during West Dorset Residents’ Week.

The event, from Monday to Sunday, April 20 to 26, aims to help residents enjoy the great things West Dorset has to offer.

More than 30 attractions are offering local people either half-price entry, two-for-one admission or other money-saving deals.

The week is organised by West Dorset District Council to promote the area’s tourism businesses.

The council hopes that residents will explore West Dorset’s attractions and pass on recommendations to visiting friends and relatives.

Council chairman Ronald Coatsworth said: “Very often, we never get around to exploring the things which are on our doorstep.

“This April, why not take advantage of the money-saving deals on offer during Residents’ Week and explore the fantastic things on offer in West Dorset and the surrounding area.”

Among the attractions offering two for one admission are Sherborne Castle, UK Llamas, Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park, Minterne Gardens, Lulworth Castle and Park, Forde Abbey and Gardens, the Fleet Air Arm Museum and Portland Castle.

Ivan Smith, of Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park, said: “We are delighted to support the week and I do hope local people will take advantage of the offer and come and visit.

Vouchers and details of all the attractions taking part in Residents’ Week have been included in the district council’s newsletter Community Link.

Copies are available from district council offices and tourist information centres throughout the district.
