The Big Brother edict just grows and grows. The first hurdle enforcing blanket retention of records about the source, destination, date, time, duration and type of our on line communications was approved by the House of Lords last month.
So, all your email traffic and use of the internet through computers will be recorded.
The Communications Data Bill meets The Data Retention (EC Directive) Regulations 2009 could pass into UK law via the Statutory Instruments process – made possible by section 2 (2) of the European Communities Act 1972 – and not debated by our elected representatives in the House of Commons.
Naturally, we need the Bill to pass into UK law as protection against terrorism!
Cooperative Vehicle Infrastructure Systems (CIVS) – an EU project to install a ‘communications box’ in all new cars to track the whereabouts of drivers anywhere in Europe.
Our Government has agreed to CIVS technologies and application to be treated as a test site in the UK.
It will use the Galileo satellite positioning system which will enable “a revolution in mobility for travellers and goods, completely re-engineering how drivers, their vehicles, the goods they carry and the transport infrastructure interact”.
It could be that this ‘spy in the cab’ could lead to sending your positional data to government control centres for speed enforcement, road tolling and other law enforcement.
Naturally, we need the EU CIVS in our best interest of ‘elf and safety’!
