Sharon Fifield (Letters, March 30) is to be commended for clearing up after her dog, and it is unfortunate that she had to carry her dog’s mess so far before finding a bin for it.
As the Friends of Lodmoor Country Park have found whilst investigating the possibility of placing more bins in the area, every minute and metre added to the route of the park department's ‘binmen’ costs money that isn't available.
Budgets have been cut yet again for the next year.
However, had she continued her walk into the Country Park instead of through the RSPB reserve, she would have been able to put her bag into any of our park’s bins.
If only all the dog walkers in Lodmoor Country Park would do the same!
Dinah Ellis, for The Friends of Lodmoor Country Park, Weymouth Bay Avenue, Weymouth.
