Further to Robert Strong’s letter ‘Frying time – come and get it’ (Echo, March 31) some ‘degenerate morons’ have tipped a load of soft furnishings in the lay-by at the top of Goulds Hill.
Fly tipping is still happening because our politicians haven't got the guts to impose a suitable deterrent for these criminals.
Instead they produced the ‘Waste Carriers' Licence Scheme’ whereby anybody carrying any sort of waste in a commercial vehicle has to have a permit in order to do so.
The fly tippers don't have these permits so they carry on fly tipping and everybody else is snowed under with heaps of paperwork and bureaucracy.
If I'd been in charge it would have been a £1,000 fine and three points on licence for a first offence of fly tipping, where proved, and a second offence would have merited a custodial sentence and destruction of the vehicle involved.
