THE War Memorial outside St Mary’s Church is in need of some restoration and funds are needed for this project.
If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in helping those from this village who gallantly gave their lives during both World Wars then cheques can be left for ‘The Treasurer, Charminster War Memorial Fund’ at the village shop and made out to Charminster War Memorial Fund.

- OUR own local intrepid explorer, namely Chris Shaw, has been off on her travels again – this time to Antarctica.
The village hall was packed – in fact all seats had been sold a week before her talk – so word has obviously got around that you are guaranteed a splendid ‘trip’ when Chris takes us with her.
We were in a nice warm hall and didn't have to cope with the penguin pong, seasickness, cold and fog – but we could experience, albeit second hand, the thrill of the scenery, icebergs, whales, seals and of course penguins, from her wonderfully descriptive talk and pictures.
With an ice and penguin-themed raffle and p-p-picking up a penguin with our cuppa, over £500 was raised for more work to the village hall.
Very many thanks Chris and we all look forward to the next one – which apparently could possibly be Japan – so kimonos at the ready!
- THE next hall fundraising will be a tabletop sale on Saturday, February 14, 2pm-4pm in the village hall.
If you would like to hire a table for £5 or for any other information then the chap to contact is Len Ahern on 01305 265473
