THE installation of cavity wall insulation to the village hall has made a vast difference to the warmth of the hall.
It just needs users to get used to not turning the heaters on so high – or else turn the switch off when it gets too warm, rather than open doors or windows!
- FUNDRAISING for the hall funds to help pay for this insulation and other improvements have had a boost from a couple of recent events.
The quiz evening was most enjoyable and raised nearly £200.
The chairman Jeremy Elliott thanks everyone who kindly donated items to the 'Things and Promises' auction at which Oliver Letwin, the guest auctioneer, did a splendid job and helped raise a magnificent sum of £1,676.
Thanks must also go to everyone who brought them all back again – hope they prove to be useful and enjoyable.
Further events will be a slideshow in January and a tabletop sale on Valentine's Day – more details later.
- WI MEMBERS partook of an extremely pleasant meal at their Christmas party, cooked and served by the ever-efficient committee.
The next meeting to look forward to will be on Tuesday, January 13 when 'Weeds as Medicine' will be on the agenda – sounds interesting.
- ST MARY’S Church will hold on a nativity and christingle service tomorrow at 4pm.
There will of course be the usual Midnight Communion tomorrow – which actually starts at 11pm.
It was quite amusing to see children from the school trotting off to the church for an end of term service – each carrying a chair!
- PEOPLE are still contacting me to book the village hall. I have not been organising this for several months. Lilian Matthews (01305 266082) is in charge of the diary and all enquiries/ bookings should be made via her.
- FESTIVE greetings for a lovely Christmastide to all readers.
