JUST HOW GREEN HAVE YOU BEEN
With LYN COOCH Portland ranger
I TRY to be green.
As a family we do the usual things like recycling and composting, plus we’re attempting to reduce the amount of packaging we use.
I read an article about a family who lived for a week without any packaging at all.
I’d imagine it would be very hard but I’d like our family to give it a go.
I also buy local when I can to reduce food miles.
The children walk to school and I try to cycle where I can but it’s hard, especially with work.
A bicycle has been made available for Portland volunteers so I will try to use that a bit more when I’m on the island.
My job is about improving the environment and ensuring there is access to habitats so people can enjoy the wildlife.
We’re looking for more conservation volunteers to help us with this.
