A GREEN community event is happening this weekend.
A range of skills and crafts will be on offer as the Weymouth and Portland Transition Town group holds an autumn fayre on Saturday.
The Transition Town movement looks at the problem of peak oil and what will happen if the price of a barrel of oil makes car use unsustainable and the adoption of new fossil fuel-free technologies inevitable.
Communities would have to face life without cheap petrol and diesel and look at ways of becoming more sustainable, with people growing their own food and generating their own power.
There will be vegetable boxes and cheese for sale, information about Portland lamb, home-made cakes, face painting, jewellery, arts and crafts, tarot readings, a potter’s wheel, a video about under-threat coral in Lyme Bay and cycle accessories.
An auction of promises will be held.
Admission is 50p and the event will run from 10am-3pm at the Upwey and Broadwey Memorial Hall in Victoria Avenue.
