RESIDENTS have been helping to make a Weymouth beauty spot even more attractive by organising a litter pick.
The sun shone as a band of volunteers grabbed bags and picking sticks and declared war on rubbish.
The Friends of Radipole Park and Gardens help to keep the spot clean and tidy by organising clean-ups twice a year.
Within an hour-and-a-half the volunteers collected more than 20 bags of litter after delving under hedgerows, shrub beds and on the tree-sloped banks of the playing field to retrieve discarded bottles, cans, clothing and crisp packets.
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council’s Parks staff were on hand to provide gloves, bags and litter pick sticks.
Vice chairman of the Friends Martin Cridland said: “Since carrying out our regular cleaning blitz, we’re helping to keep discarded litter to a minimum enabling the council’s gardener to devote more time to carry out the skilled work that makes our gardens an even better place for people to visit.”
