A VISITOR centre has scooped a green award.
The Purbeck Information and Heritage Centre won silver in the Green Tourism Business Scheme, the country’s leading sustainable tourism accreditation.
The scheme provides practical environmental measures to enable businesses to reduce their energy and water consumption and increase their marketing potential to visitors.
Businesses that meet the required standard receive a bronze, silver, or gold award based on their level of achievement.
Centre manager Holly Lagden said: “It was an enjoyable and worthwhile project and we are pleased that there were no significant extra costs involved.
“In fact future savings are now forecast. If any other business in Dorset would like advice we would be happy to help.”
There are currently 35 businesses in the Green Tourism Business Scheme in Dorset.
