JUST HOW GREEN HAVE YOU BEEN
By Shaun Hennessy Owner of Blondz hair salon, Weymouth
WITHIN reason I’m pretty green, but I’ve not swallowed the green dictionary 100 per cent!
What is particularly frustrating, and this goes for any business in Weymouth, is that there is no opportunities to recycle trade waste like there is with household waste. As far as I’m aware it all goes in landfill.
The council says it’s green but it doesn’t collect trade waste and I think there should be a system in place.
The only way we could get round it is to take our waste to the household recycling site, but that would be illegal.
There aren’t any products we use that are bad for the environment. The only waste product is the tin foil we use for colouring, which is recyclable.
My wife is fanatical about recycling at home. Our food waste goes to the chickens. Because the shop is in the town centre I walk to work or cycle most days and I encourage the staff to do the same.
