We arrived at Ingleton at 6.40pm to be greeted by Barbara at reception. It turned out that there was an adults only session after 7pm so our tight schedule turned out to be a little more flexible than we imagined. We had found the pool built in parkland nestling by the river. On our walk through the park, there was a wonderful aroma of wild garlic, which I could still smell whilst swimming. A young dad was in the pool
Giving his baby son what looked like his first swimming lesson. I was reminded that I was looking forward to taking Robert (aged 3 weeks) my youngest grandson to our local pool. You can’t start them too young! The pool was 20 metres long, so we swam the 80 lengths in good time with Dave forging ahead as usual. The pool itself was be beautifully maintained. With a lovely tiled floor. Built by the Ingleton miners back in 1933 and fed by river water, it was apparently voted the 51st. best lido in the world in 2001. Who am I to argue?
