We travelled the short distance to Beccles. Again welcomed by friendly staff and a virtually empty pool. This time only 48 lengths were needed and we rattled them off in good time still fresh and perky. Dave was swimming well as I would expect and lapped me 3 times before completing his mile. Our usual routine was that he would get out and get the form completed whilst I took the extra 2 or 3 minutes to complete my mile. Dave is still super quick and swims a mile at 25 minute pace. He was just back from the European Triathlon Championships having come third in the over 50 category and was the first British athlete home and even beat all the Brits in the next younger catagory. He really is a superb endurance athlete and I really shouldn’t feel too bad about trailing him. I will just have to find a way of slowing him down! We then had a spot of lunch prepared by Diana and off on a long 2-hour drive to Peterborough for the next stage of our challenge
