Arrest warrant issued for former barge resident charged with sexual assault (Image: PA)
An arrest warrant has been issued for an asylum seeker and resident of the Portland barge who is accused of sexually assaulting a woman on the island.
Adnan Ahmed, aged 36, whose address was given as the Bibby Stockholm barge at Portland Port, was due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates Court at 10am today, charged with sexual assault.
He is charged with the sexual assault of a woman in Fortuneswell, Portland on August 21, 2023.
He was charged by police on November 2, although the court understands that the Bibby Stockholm barge is now empty of asylum seekers.
A warrant was issued for Ahmed's arrest after he failed to turn up at court this morning.
