Two Weymouth brothers have been rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in darts after creating quirky social media content for fans which has proved to be hugely popular.

Such is the success of their YouTube and Tik Tok accounts, which they launched in 2023, they have gained more than 40,000 subscribers in the past 12 months.

Dan McNamara, 30, and Bailey McNamara, 22, make up two members of a YouTube Channel which has been gaining a fan following over the past year.

The brothers are originally from Wales, but moved to Littlemoor, Weymouth in 2012. They have been darts mad since then.

Following the success of content across their own social media channel, McDarts on Tik Tok, amassing an impressive 33k followers, the pair linked up with Ollie Howard of TBDDarts and Dan Coates of DartsWithDC to form the Bullhitters.

Together, the group of enthusiasts create quirky YouTube content which has gone viral, such as a weird segment which sees darts made from ordinary items such as carrots and chopsticks thrown at a board.

They also have a Beat the Pro feature, which has seen them take on professionals, including current World Youth Champion Gian Van Veen.

Due to the rise in their success, the pair - with help from dad Danny - have struck sponsorship deals with major darts companies Winmau and Red Dragon. They were at the Grand Slam of Darts where they met three-time former World Champion Michael Van Gerwen.

The pairs’ viral success took off following a video on Tik Tok showing the poor quality of a dart board last year.

Dan said: “After three days, the board looked battered so we did a little video, next thing we knew it had 500k views within a day.”

Speaking about the success, Bailey added: “We’re always looking to stay relevant - and things took off after the weird darts from Dan as no one had done that. It’s all been about luck. Before this I had about 12 YouTube gaming channels."

He added: “The world of darts has been thrust into the world of social media with the rise of popularity in the sport since the emergence of (teenage darts sensation) Luke Littler, but there were no influencers as of last year growing the sport.

“Our main goal has been to grow the sport through social media and a connection to fans.”

The brothers say The Park pub in the Park District is their darts venue, have won trophies with them, and has been a big part of their careers.

Bailey said: “I never would have believed I would be going from that world to meeting the likes of Van Gerwen. It's been incredible.”

In a new development to raise the profile, the Bullhitters recently recorded a video with YouTuber JaackMaate, who boasts more than 1.5 million subscribers.

Echo reporter Alfie Lumb was lucky enough to take on Bailey in a game, which you can read all about later this month.
