A MAN ‘clawed’ at his mother’s face and shoved his fingers into her mouth when she refused to hand over her car keys, a court heard.
Jacob Elsanosi later attacked his mother’s neighbour with a brick, broken bottle and a political placard.
Prosecutor, Ben Thompson, told Bournemouth Crown Court that on March 29 the defendant rang his mother and demanded money or else he would set fire to her flat.
She arrived home to find Elsanosi still asking for money before turning to demand her car keys.
The pair were walking into the house when the defendant shoved his mother, making her fall to the floor, before attempting to rip the keys from her hand.
Elsanosi clawed at his mother’s face and stuck his fingers into her mouth, ripping her jaw down.
The court heard that the woman was not wearing her teeth and unable to defend herself before successfully kicking him away, and the defendant sped off in her car.
On August 20, Elsanosi knocked on the neighbour’s door, asking for his mother, when the man told him to leave and threatened to call the police.
The defendant became aggressive, grabbed the man’s throat, headbutted him and tried to slam an empty bottle over his head but failed.
He then grabbed a political placard from a nearby garden and attacked the neighbour with it before using a broken glass bottle to injure his ear lobe.
The defendant then held a brick and said: “I’m going to kill you, look at what I have in my hand.”
When the victim was able to flee towards other members of the public, the defendant accused him of being a sex offender.
A week later on August 27, Elsanosi forced his way into Asda petrol station on Holdenhurst Road in Bournemouth at around 1am and stole pizzas.
When a member of staff confronted him he ran towards the out of hours window hatch, reached through and shouted: “You’re a piece of sh**'.
He then grabbed her right arm and scratched it before spitting in her face.
Elsanosi’s mother said in a statement that she loves her son but “cannot take it anymore” and does not think he should be allowed into society.
“I have endured this for a long time, I have lost my best friend,” she said.
The woman’s neighbour said in a statement that the incident has left him afraid to live in his home and feels disfigured from his ear injury.
Mitigating, Paul Fairley, said the defendant’s mother described him as a “delight to be around” when he is taking his medication and not abusing drugs.
It was said that Elsanosi has had an “appalling childhood” and benefits from structure in custody.
Judge Robert Pawson said the defendant’s past does not justify his actions but “does provide some context”.
He added that the attack on the neighbour was ‘as bad as an affray can be’ and was surprised he was not charged with a more serious offence.
Elsanosi, 34 and of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, aggravated vehicle taking, burglary and assault by beating.
He also admitted to breaching a conditional discharge and various suspended sentences.
He was jailed for three years and four months, disqualified from driving for four years and two months and handed a restraining order from Wimborne Road for eight years.
Judge Pawson also awarded £500 to the neighbour and £250 to the female shop worker, for their courage in confronting an attacker.
