WEYMOUTH have sacked manager Mark Molesley with immediate effect.
The Terras announced this evening that they have parted ways with their head coach citing that results 'did not meet expectations'.
Whilst the search for a new manager gets underway, goalkeeping coach Jason Matthews will take interim charge.
Matthews has previously managed the side on interim basis when Wilkinson left last season prior to Molesley's appointment and before that was in charge in 2017.
His first game will be the National League South visit of Tonbridge Angels on Saturday followed by the FA Trophy game with bitter rivals Yeovil.
Molesley sensationally rejoined the club in April following the departure of Bobby Wilkinson having previously won back-to-back promotions with the club in 2018/19 and 2019/2020.
The former AFC Bournemouth midfielder also played at the Bob Lucas for two seasons prior to taking over as first team coach following his retirement from playing.
However, the club's dire form this season has forced the clubs hand and they will now look at 'all avenues and options' as they search for a replacement.
The club sits 22nd in the National League South with just 12 points and has failed to win any games at home this season.
After losing their opening seven games of the league campaign, victories over Dorking and then Sholing in the FA Trophy saw hopes rise.
However, the club have remained without a league win on home turf, with their only victory in front of the fans a 3-0 win to Winchester in the FA Cup.
The club's only league win came away to Aveley during a run of seven games in which the Terras avoided defeat, picking up five draws.
That run also included a brilliant 3-2 win away to Weston-super-Mare in the FA Trophy, probably the only highlight of what has been a pretty poor season to date.
But, defeat to Hornchurch at the weekend and a disappointing 4-1 home defeat to Truro City on Tuesday night appears to have been the last straw for the board as the club face the real prospect of dropping back down to the Southern League.
A statement released on the club's website said: "The Weymouth Football Club board of directors wishes to inform supporters that, after a meeting last night, it has been decided to part ways with Mark Molesley with immediate effect.
"Unfortunately, results have not met our expectations.
"In the interim, Jason Matthews will take charge of first team fixtures while we search for a new manager.
"We thank Mark for his efforts and wish him every success in the future."
Fans will be hoping a change in manger can turn the clubs fortunes around especially with a crucial FA Trophy tie coming up against Yeovil on Saturday, December 7.
However, first up will be the visit of Tonbridge Angels this Saturday.
