A BUSINESS owner from Dorchester has taken part in a popular reality TV series which rates B&B accommodation.

Noorani Williamson of the Casterbridge Guest House in High East Street is appearing as one of the contestants on Channel 4's Four in a Bed this week and has drawn high praise for her 'delicious' breakfasts and for being a 'helpful, enthusiastic' host.

The show, which is being screened at 5pm on Channel 4 across the week, pits B&B owners from across the country against each other.

They throw open their doors and take turns to stay with each other, as they compete to be crowned best hosts.

Noorani proved herself to be a fearsome competitor in the first episode, warning her three rivals "I like my bathroom so you can eat off the floor.”

On Tuesday's episode, guests visited the Casterbridge to experience a night in Dorchester.

They were full of praise for the B&B's appearance and its breakfast, with Noorani making her special spicy Sri Lankan omelettes for guests alongside a traditional full English.

One of the contestants said: "This is the orangest egg I've ever seen. It's delicious."

"Noorani's character has come out at breakfast," they said.

However, the guests' competitive spirit came to the fore with criticism directed at the Dorchester B&B for 'dust behind a ledge' in one of its bedrooms and 'great curtains but missing a ring'.

They all bonded over drinks at the B&B, with the guests enjoying insight to Noorani's personality and work ethic.

A trip out to the Keep Military Museum in nearby Bridport Road, Dorchester, was laid on, followed by a trip to the rooftop of the museum, which offers a panoramic view of the county town.

The visitors said Dorchester was 'a beautiful place' and discussed its most famous son author Thomas Hardy.

Noorani told the others: "‘I don’t get time to read his works - I'm too busy cleaning the Casterbridge."

At the end of the Dorchester-filmed episode the other guests rated The Casterbridge, with the overall scores to be revealed at the end of the week of programmes.

Among the comments about the experience were: "She’s such a helpful person who really wants to please everyone.

"You can’t fault her enthusiasm. What you see is what you get."

The results and the winning B&B will be revealed at the end of the week.
