SANDBANKS chain ferry is temporarily out of action an hour after it was relaunched.

The ferry had returned to its post connecting Poole and Studland on Thursday afternoon, November 21 after a two-week refit in Poole Harbour.

Bosses had said it would return at 2pm, however, a spokesman took to social media at 3pm to say Bramble Bush Bay is experiencing some "teething issues".

The spokesman for the ferry said: "We're experiencing some post-refit teething issues, so have had to temporarily suspend the ferry service.

"We're working as quickly as we can to fix the problem and will provide an update as soon as we can. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Bramble Bush Bay came into service in January 1994, and is the fourth ferry to operate this service since the Bournemouth-Swanage Motor Road and Ferry Company came into being. 

During the last biannual refit in November 2022, the ferry was damaged while being towed to Falmouth. 

Its prow arms were severely and as a result the service was out of action until February 2023.
