A man has been served a fine after causing thousands of pounds worth of damage to someone's car.
Luke Gallimore, aged 24, appeared at Weymouth Magistrates Court on Wednesday, November 20 where he pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage.
He admitted to causing £2,420 worth of of criminal damage to a car on Bridport Road in Dorchester.
The incident happened between July 22 and July 23, 2023.
Siobhan Oxley, prosecuting, told the court that the owner opened the passenger door of his car and noticed a pair of scissors on the seat, when they had previously been placed in the boot of his car.
The court heard how the scissors had dried blood on them and that wires had been cut in the car.
Police officers took wet and dry swabs of the scene and later confirmed that the DNA matched Gallimore.
The vehicle had to be written off due to the damages.
Lee Christmas, mitigating, said that Gallimore was "in with the wrong people" who were taking drugs and drinking.
He added that Gallimore had "no idea" how he got involved or what happened but realised it must have been him as his DNA appeared on the test
Mr Christmas added: "He has abandoned that group of friends now and is doing the right thing. He has a job, working 30 hours a week and he has his own flat.
"He has pulled himself together, seen the value of working and earning money and grown up essentially."
District Judge MC Austin said: "This is the first time you have appeared in court and I hope it's going to be your last."
Gallimore, of Bindon Abbey Street, Poundbury, was ordered to pay a £250 fine, as well as £150 in compensation, a victim surcharge of £100 and court costs of £85.
