There were major queues on the Ridgeway due to the snow and stuck vehicles.
A lorry and two cars became stuck in the area, causing dangerous driving conditions.
Police closed the road in both directions for a number of hours as they worked to reopen it as soon as possible.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "At 9.36am, we received a report that a lorry was stuck on the A354 Weymouth Relief Road.
"We also received a further report that two more vehicles were stuck on the road."
The ridgeway reopened at around noon.
