Street drinkers have been forced to move on from Weymouth seafront by police.
Officers from Weymouth Neighbourhood Police Team (NPT) were patrolling the town yesterday when they came across the group in one of the Victorian shelters.
A spokesperson for the NPT said: “We disrupted the group early before they could get too settled and we issued four section 35s, preventing them from returning to the town centre for 12 hours.”
“The feedback from local residents is largely positive but we continue to keep a close eye on the sea front.
This was carried out as part of Antisocial Behaviour Week, which is part of Operation Track – a government-funded initiative to deliver enhanced patrols to tackle and target areas of concern for antisocial behaviour.
Police also visited the train station and local businesses to check on whether there had been any further incidents of concern, and actively patrolled residential streets where antisocial behaviour had been reported.
