With temperatures dropping, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow across Dorset.

It is in place from between 5am to 3pm on Thursday, November 21 covering Dorset, as well as parts of Devon, Cornwall, Plymouth and Somerset.

According to the Met Office, some roads and railways are likely to be affected by the warning, with longer journey times by road, bus and train services expected.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “A spell of rain and snow is expected to develop across southwest England early on Thursday.

“Accumulating snow is most likely over higher ground above 200m, where between two to five cm is probable.

“There is a chance that similar accumulations occur at lower levels in places. Higher parts of Dartmoor could see between five to 10cm of snow. There is likely to be a risk of ice developing as skies clear into Thursday night.”

Issuing advice to motorists, the spokesperson added: “Keep yourself and others safe by planning your route, giving yourself extra time for your journey. Check for road closures or delays to public transport and amend plans if necessary.

“If driving, make sure you have some essentials in your car in the event of any delays.”
