A cruise ship has skipped Portland Port today due to the weather conditions.
The AIDAmar had been set to stop at Portland at 8am today having departed from Hamburg Germany on a 21-day round-trip that will see it sail around Spain, Portugal and France.
The 252m long ship is part of AIDA Cruises and is said to be carrying around 2,000 passengers.
A spokesperson for Portland Port said: “The AIDAmar was due to call at Portland today but this was cancelled due to weather conditions.”
An online marine traffic tracker shows the cruise ship entering the bay, doing a loop and then leaving.
Built in 2012, the ship was christened in Hamburg by Sissi Kuhlmann in front of 100,000 people.
The AIDAmar offers a different experience for passengers with an onboard brewery, which makes fresh beers from purified seawater.
There are also 12 bars and seven restaurants, including the Bella Donna, which serves traditional Italian cuisine.
Her sister ship, AIDAstella visited Portland over 10 years ago on May 17, 2013.
It is scheduled to stop at Portland on Tuesday, December 10.
